When words and behaviour diverge
What If the Profile Says One Thing but the Conversation Says Another?
A Friendship profile followed by repeated dating pressure is a mismatch. An LTR profile followed by “I only want to chat” may mean the person’s intention has changed or that the profile is out of date. Neither example gives you enough reason to guess.
- 1
Clarify the present intention. Ask which direction applies to this conversation now.
- 2
Compare behaviour with the answer. A label matters only when the messages respect its stated limit.
- 3
Narrow or end the exchange. If the answer remains inconsistent, stop investing and use the controls available to you.
If an edit option is available, a member whose intention has changed should bring the visible wording back into line. If it is not, stating the change early prevents new conversations from starting on old information. For room-specific message controls, read the Bisexual Chat Room guide.
